What is Consciousness Exercise?

Consciousness Exercise is a partnered mindfulness exercise, developed by Christian Meyer, taught to me by Stefi Preiss, one of my most influential teachers, living in Styria, Austria.

At its core, Consciousness Exercise (I will abbreviate with CE moving forward) is a back-and-forth practice between a meditator and a guide, intended to guide you through the layers of consciousness, to discover who you truly are and step beyond the confines of the conscious mind.

While I often lead guided mindfulness practices which have similar elements to CE, I believe one can only go so far without interaction with the "other." This is why the most powerful transformation happens inside the mirror of intimate partnership.

CE is ultimately a practice on seeing and being seen. Whether you are the person guiding, the person being guided, or the person witnessing the practice from the outside, may you be transformed.

Through this intimacy practice, you will learn how to:

  • Better articulate your inner experience
  • "Be with" yourself without reacting
  • "Be with" others without reacting
  • Feel your emotions, move through them in a meaningful way, and unlock untapped wisdom through body sensation
  • Communicate more authentically
  • Open your heart
  • Access stillness and intuition

We will gradually start with smaller, simpler partnered intimacy practices, and work our way up to Consciousness Exercise over the next 6 weeks.
